Flashback

I put on this outfit yesterday morning and I realized that it is almost identical to what I wore in Paris when I went to France for a month last summer. I bought this scarf at this adorable little boutique in Paris and it is seriously one of my favorite pieces of clothing. It is super versatile and unique- it was the only one in the little shop!

Flowers in Your Hair

Hello everyone! It is so good to be home, but it is soo hot. Like oppressively hot. I walked outside, and the heat and humidity hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. So I needed to wear something light and breathable. Enter: this skirts. Linen is the perfect material for the heat because it is super light and airy. But I really wanted to wear some more color so I had to wear my favorite floral scarf I got at an outdoor market in Paris.

P. S. Props to my sister for letting me wear her flower clip.

Back In Town

I’m home! My first day home was the perfect balance of relaxing and busy. I woke up at the crack of 10 and saw my best friend before she left on vacation, went with my mother to get her hair done, and then did some grocery shopping. And, I am completely ignoring the fact that school starts in a few weeks. It’s still summer, and tax free weekend hasn’t happened yet. So I am still on vacation. There.

SFO –> MEM

Yesterday was a long day of travel. Luckily, we were able to get a nonstop flight from San Francisco to Memphis. We were even able to get exit row seats! My six-foot frame appreciated that. So it actually was not that bad. But I am definitely glad to be home and able to recover from my amazing trip.

Geometric

Alas, the time has come for my month-long vacation to come to an end. Every time we come to California, we end our trip by taking my grandparents out to a nice lunch. And I had the perfect dress this year! My new favorite dress that I bought in Carmel has made a return. I wore it last at Pebble Beach, but now I wanted to show it to you full length. I love the lines and shape of this dress. And, I love the pockets! They’re huge!

At the Rodeo

Last night, I went to the fair with my two godsons (7-year-old twin boys) and their sister (9), who was supposed to be in the rodeo. Unfortunately, her horse was hurt and unable to perform. Afterwards, though, we went out and rode some rides and ate fair food and had a wonderful time. As soon as I was asked to go to the rodeo, I knew I had to wear my cowboy boots. It’s a rodeo for Pete’s sake. So I fit right in with all the real cowboys 🙂

Sounds Like a Challenge

Some days are just a little slower than others. Yesterday, I tumbled out of bed and wandered around the house all morning until I realized that it was noon an we hadn’t done anything nor made plans to do anything. Then, I remembered that my mom and I had thought about seeing Snow White and the Huntsman. The only problem was that it is not playing in Modesto anymore and the closest place it is playing in Turlock (the next town over, about 30 minutes away). And, there was a show at 12:30. My mom and I were thinking about going to either that show, or the one at 3:30 when my grandma said, “Oh you can’t go to the 12:30 one, you’ll never make it”. Well, that made up our minds and we decided to go for the 12:30. And we made it with 5 minutes to spare!

P. S. Chris Hemsworth is lookin’ mighty fine that the movie.

Cake Pops!

So yesterday, I made some cake pops! Or, as my friend calls them, amazeballs (because they don’t have the stick like normal cake pops). If you plan on making cake pops, give yourself a lot of time, because they take FOREVER. But it is totally worth it because they are delicious.

1. Whip up some cake batter. It doesn’t matter if it is homemade or from a box because they are both delish. I put sprinkles in mine because why wouldn’t you?

2. Bake the cake in a normal 9×13 inch pan.

3. Destroy the cake. Completely crumble it up using a fork, a knife, your hands, whatever floats your goat.

4. Put your crumbled cake into a bowl and add the frosting. Again, you can use either homemade or store bought. But only use half of what you make/buy. I used a can of frosting and only put half of it in.

5. Mix up the crumbled cake and frosting. This is what makes the balls stick together, so if they aren’t sticky enough, add more frosting.

6. Roll into balls!

7. I stick the tray in the fridge for about 20 minutes just so that they can become a little firmer. But after that, they are ready to dip! I melted some white chocolate chips to dip them in.

8. I put sprinkles on mine, because, again, why wouldn’t you?

9. Put them back in the fridge until the chocolate hardens and then you have cake pops!

Castle on a Cloud

One place that we always go to while we are in Monterey is Big Sur. The views are spectacular, the restaurants are delicious, and the company is great. One of our favorites is called Ventana. There is this gorgeous terrace, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You feel so high up that it is almost like you’re on a cloud. And the food is wonderful, too!

Round 2

Yesterday, I had the rest of my senior pictures done! The super special thing about this, though, was that they were done by the photographer, Tom O’Neil,  who did my parents’ wedding! Also special, he is a rock ‘n roll photographer who did the Rolling Stones, Crosby, Stills and Nash, B. B. King, and many other famous musicians. I was kind of (incredibly) excited. Anyways, Here are a few samples that my mom took while my sister and I were getting our pictures taken!
